How these numbers are made

Every range is the researched market range for that specific route — compiled from carrier tariffs, published rate tables, and rental pricing, the same data behind our cost index and route guides. Routes where we couldn't verify service pricing aren't listed. When a route only has a whole-route range (no size split), we show it for all sizes and say so.

Planning ranges, not quotes. Your date, inventory, stairs/elevator access, and fuel surcharges move the number — collect at least three written estimates from FMCSA-licensed interstate carriers.

FAQ

Why is the range so wide?

Interstate pricing spreads with demand season, exact inventory, and service level. The bottom of a full-service range is a light, flexible-date move; the top is peak-season with packing. Use the range to sanity-check quotes, not to predict your invoice.

Truck rental vs container vs full-service?

DIY truck is cheapest but you drive and load; containers split the difference (you load, they drive); full-service costs the most and does everything. Not every route has verified pricing for all three — the table shows what we could document.

How do I check a mover is legit?

Interstate movers must hold active FMCSA operating authority. Verify the USDOT number before signing — every route guide links the official lookup.
